Goals can be a touchy subject. I feel like it’s a term thrown around a lot but not necessarily defined thoroughly. We cannot discuss goals if we don’t talk about motivation to change and of course, how to actually define them. This show discusses the SMART method and what to know when you go into that first session. Like, share, subscribe, and as always remember to #FeedYourMentalHealth.

When I have great conversation, I get a natural buzz that lasts and makes me feel phenomenal. And, that’s EXACTLY what I got when I left the office of Eboni Harris and Eliza Boquin of Melanin and Mental Health. We covered topics ranging from cultural competent counseling, sex, and how communities can be impacted from natural disasters.

These trailblazing clinicians have developed a national database for mental health professionals of color. Listen to how it came about and be sure to like, share, and subscribe. And as always, remember to #FeedYourMentalHealth.

This marks our most intimately honest episode to date. I sit down with Ashley Caballero, founder of Sparkle Mental Health Connection. If you've followed the show at all, you know I am no stranger to non-profits. We need them and we need to know they are in our cities to offer help to those who need it. Ashley gives a raw and honest testimonial of how suicide touched her life and how Sparkle Mental Health Connection was established. This episode is an intro into Psychodrama with one of my favorite clinicians I've ever met, Stephanie Coker LCSW LCDC CDWF. Psychodrama is a therapeutic approach that allows the client to physically engage in the counseling process. Since the first day I opened my private practice in February 2017, I've been asked why I chose the onion as my logo. Today we discuss how the onion represents the different systems we live in and how each layer plays a role in our life.

Suicide has been more and more in the news in the past month and we're lucky enough to have an incredible non-profit organization who is doing something about it. This episode, we are joined by Foundation 45. It was created in honor of two of the the three founding members of the incredible band Spectre 45 who committed suicide.

We're joined by Lauren O'Connor, Peter Thomas PH.D, and Jen Sturges. They share their experiences with suicide, misconceptions, warning signs, and how Foundation 45 is making a difference.
